Hey Mister Mailman!

Well, more exciting mail this week. Devin went down to the
mailbox on Wednesday to mail his acceptance letter, and returned
with another letter from the MTC. It's his visa application
to live abroad. He was given 3 days to get photos taken
and forms signed and mailed back to Provo. So last
night I trimmed Devin's hair, and this morning he went
to WalMart to get passport type photos. He's still wearing
his missionary attire here taking his application down to
meet the mailman. Next up: another form signed in front
of a Notary Public, sending in his passport to the MTC,
planning the day he wants to fly to Utah and requesting
a ticket for that, and...SHOTS. Lots of 'em. Oh boy.

Lifelong friends

The same day that Devin recieved his mission call,
Christopher Chord returned home from his mission
in Japan.  He has a wonderful spirit and bore a
powerful testimony, in Japanese!  It sounded so cool!
He and his parents brought back some very different
foods from Japan to share with guests at the open house.
Here these fine young men are reunited for a short couple
of months until Chris heads off to school and Devin heads
overseas.

A Little Bit about Cebu

Well, now we know where and when.  So exciting!  I think we were all pretty surprised to hear he is going to the Philippines, since no one guessed anywhere near that area.  Richard came the closest with his guess of Japan.
So, the cool thing is that we are currently building a temple in Cebu.  It is scheduled to be dedicated on June 12 of this year, so just shortly before Devin will arrive there.  And it just so happens that a man in our ward is from Cebu.  We are anxious to meet with Winston Baring soon and learn more about the area.
This is the temple in Cebu, Philippines.  I'm excited that Devin will be near a temple.

News

Ok folks, we have some news.  It's not good.  Devin's Bishop was finally able to talk to someone in Salt Lake about his mission papers.  Apparently there is another form that needs to be filled out...and they were supposed to call us about it...but they didn't...so we don't know what form it is and most likely won't hear anything about it until at least Tuesday...

...the wait contiunues...

Still Waiting...

But apparently if it hasn't been in the missionary department
in Salt Lake at least 8 weeks, they won't even check on it.
It's completely within the normal time range. So the
wait continues!

Christmas!

The boys sing beautifully, so Christmas is a great opportunity
to use those talents. So nice to have Josh accompany on the
piano while Eric Devin and Dennis sang We Three Kings.
Being able to sing well is a definite plus for a missionary.
Devin got some great mission type music. Some Motab, etc.

A family photo album to take along.

More mission music!

And, nice sturdy luggage! Now, if we only knew where he
was going to be taking that luggage!

What's the Boy Scout motto? Be Prepared!

Thus, the wall map. We are now super prepared to get
that big, white envelope in the mail. The guesses have
been documented carefully with sticky note arrows.
Who will be the closest?

Oh Brother!

So here's the deal. These two boys just love to be together.
They have fun no matter what they're doing. In fact, if they
are supposed to be getting ready for bed, or some mundane
task like that, they seem to have the MOST fun. Yep, I
think they'll miss one another. But that's a good thing.
By the way, the word is that mission calls come in the
mail on Thursdays or maybe Fridays. Can't wait!

The Papers have been submitted!

We got the official word tonight that the paperwork
has been sent to Salt Lake. We're looking at two weeks
til the call comes. Oh boy!
